Seiches
From ASDSO Dam Safety Toolbox
A seiche is a standing wave that forms in an enclosed body of water that has the potential to generate hazardous fluctuation in the reservoir level. Assessment of seiche hazard considers the oscillatory motions of water generated by strong ground shaking, and the probabilities of the events occurring.
